SKI SEASON 2016:
Got that trip to the snowy mountains planned?
Ski boots- Tick
Helmet- Tick
Goggles- Tick
Ski-fit body- Er……
With the 2016 ski season firmly upon us (now some snow has finally fallen!) we are now seeing a steady increase in those ski related injuries coming through our physio doors again.
The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy posted this article recently, emphasising the importance of ”ski-hab” (pre-ski rehab) to not only ensure you get the most out of your ski break but also to avoid those injuries!
Hard snow, ice and poor skiing conditions can take a toll on your joints. Any pre-existing injuries or niggles can be exacerbated, and this can certainly curtail your enjoyment on the slopes.
Treatment
So, if you have any niggles, weaknesses or previous joint issues form skiing, it is wise to get a professional assessment with one of our expert team.
We will advise you on all the right stretches, postures and strengthening exercises to help you get through your ski break unscathed! The further in advance this is done the better, but we can also offer last minute advice on bracing, taping and physio management while you are away.
